picking Boskoops
we picked 5 Boskoops from our third year B9 tree. they're huge and picked easily, off the tree they were pretty good. a week or two of storage will help though...

first apple
the first of four Gravensteins on the young B9 tree, and the first apple ever picked from our orchard! number two was quickly devoured as well...they taste like "Juicy Fruit" and "like apple juice i chew".
i sprayed sulfur during scab season and surround through june and july, and the fruit is very clean, only a little bit of flyspeck. also sprayed seaweed (sometimes with surround, sometimes alone) through july.

tilling vetch and winter rye
shifting to a task that can be completed:

stupid rock
even two grunting, tool-wielding, underwear-exposing males haven't budged it...yet
i got lazy and didn't fully dig it out, thinking the comealong would do the trick. nope. so i tried to split it with feathers & wedges. nope. hmm.
